The coffee shop is our community's gathering place.
In acts 2:42-47 we see how the early Church devoted themselves to the teachings of the apostles, to fellowship, to breaking bread, and to prayer and that they did these things together daily. For us, the coffee shop is where our community engages in their daily rhythm of worship together.
Believe it or not, this was never about coffee for us.

It's kind of funny to look back now and laugh at the audacity we must have had to think we could open a business in an industry that we knew nothing about but alas, the Lord has kept us.
In those early days whenever people would ask us "so, what made you want to open a coffee shop?" we'd tell them "this is just a social experiment" and we'd answer it the same way today. You see, we believe that the biblical prescription for living is good,in an absolute and objective sense. We believe that the evidence of an intimate relationship with Jesus (the fruit of the Spirit) is the most attractive thing on earth to any human being, regardless of their cultural background or former experience with "religion." And we believe that the Gospel has the power to transform not only individual lives, but entire communities, cities, and nations.
So, we've embarked on this mission to build a community that's committed to the biblical prescription for living. We trust that, in time, the evidence of our commitment and obedience to the teachings of Jesus will attract even the most persistent and enthusiastic of our opponents, and one soul at a time, we will reclaim this city in the name of Jesus and see it transformed for His glory.
As for the coffee shop: it is our community's gathering place. It's what gives us countless opportunities to serve, to love, and to check in with our neighbors every day. And, reading this may have left you with the impression that we treat coffee as an afterthought, and to some degree, that's true, but our coffee program has come a long way since those early days. We'd encourage you to stop by or order a bag of coffee to enjoy at home. You won't be disappointed.

I hadn’t seen her in a while so I asked her how she’d been. She told me she was doing well and that she wished she could come to the shop more often but she just couldn’t afford to spend $7 bucks a day on coffee… In that moment I realized that I cared more about getting to see her everyday than I did about the $7 bucks.
Soon after, we decided to give away our drip coffee for free - to everyone, all the time - giving people a way to come in without feeling the burden or pressure to buy something every time, and giving us an opportunity to check on them.

The shop is where our community was started, but it's expanded into so much more. Bi-weekly Bible study fills the upper room with over two hundred young adults. A run club meets every weekend. Over at Omen Athletics, Bible talks happen in the sauna and the cold plunge doubles as a mental health tool. We've organized neighborhood trash pick-ups, spent afternoons with local kids who needed someone to show up, and hosted coffee with a cop in the part of the city that needed it most. Save St. Louis is the non-profit that ties it all together. Every bag, every shirt, every cup helps fund the work.
